9 Reasons Why Your Girlfriend (or Wife) is Mad at You

Ever experienced a day when you and your girlfriend were walking/eating/chatting/(put any activity here) happily when suddenly, her mood sours up?

Did you try to lighten up the mood and tried to find the cause of the problem? Or what you did only worsened it?

Doesn't it puzzle you to death when that kind of thing happen so suddenly, without any warning?

Well, fret no more! Because, I am going to show you a condensed chapter in the book, How to Understand Women vol. 9xx entitled: Reasons Why She is Mad

So, I suggest that you read through this list and try to comprehend the complex processes why she is so mad at you.

Disclaimer: Ever since the start of the animal kingdom, no boy, man or elder has fully understand the complex thought processes of a woman. Therefore, take this list lightly because everything in it is subject to change.

Let's start?

9. You forgot to reply to her message or return her call.

Simply put it this way, your girlfriend, or wife for that matter, is very worried about you. She wants to know that you are safe and sound. Therefore, start replying to her phone calls and messages, fool!

Or else, some untoward things may happen to you.

Either this,                                                          Or this,

Choose your faith wisely, buddy.

8. You are so clingy.

I know you'd like to be around her and all but ...
... ever heard of being too needy?

Give your girlfriend her space, man! It annoys them if you act like a tail that follows her every move, every time.

It'd be better if you would just reply to her messages and talk to her if she wants it.

But, just don't be like this guy ->

7. She wants to be with you - and it bugs her.

What do you call a girl who is in love with you but,  does not want to acknowledge her feelings? In Japanese, she's called a tsundere, in Filipino, you call her a pakipot.

Ha! You probably thought tsundere characters can only be seen in animes and manga, but think again. They do exist in real life.

Sadly for you, you fell in love with one. But, don't worry. Follow this guide, and you'll be fine.

6. You forgot to compliment her.

Come on, compliment your girlfriend more often. Whatever she looks like, you just have to think that she is the best girl for you. You have to see beyond her looks, too!

Remember, no one will ever pay attention to you more than her, except of course, your mom.

Therefore, tell her how beautiful she is.

(Just think of her as Emma Watson if it's really hard)

5. You forgot something very important.

Dates are very important, and I don't mean where you take a girl out for dinner.

Dates: the day, month and year of your anniversary, monthsary or whatever-sary. Remember, these are precious moments girls like to cherish, so don't mess them up.

Give her something to be happy about. Roses, chocolates, and/or letters are the usual things you have to give your girlfriend during these dates.

If you can, surprise her with some fancy dinner. But, make do with what you can.

Just remember, it's the thought that counts!

4. You are annoying.

It's great if you are humorous. Humor will always be your best friend when you are trying to entertain your girlfriend.

But, stop being annoying. If you are bordering on being a complete jackass, stop. And, if you are just not funny at all, don't try to be one.

Just listen to her and don't get in to her nerves.

If you don't, your girlfriend or wife will go gung-ho on you.  Beware!

3. She has the "swings".

Does you girlfriend display one or more of the following?

  1. Is she extremely nice to you?
  2. Does she hate you to the core?
  3. Is she nice to you, again?
  4. Is she cold to you now?

If one or more of the following is true, then your girlfriend is just having her usual mood swings.

Just stay calm and wait for her to chill.

(But, don't you think Anne Hathaway in this illustration is quite adorable?)

2. She is on her period.

Ever heard of PMS as in, premenstrual syndrome? Well, it's just a concoction of several emotions and feelings that will make a girl go on a rampage especially when she's irritated or otherwise.

Don't worry, it's a naturally occurring phenomenon which is boxed with every girl on this planet.

Plus, there's more! If you avail of one girlfriend now, you can get a PMS + mood swing combo! That will be an awesome experience, trust me.

Just don't forget to run, duck and hide. Please, say it again: run, duck and hide.

Add in a little of pacifying technique and you will survive this disaster, probably.

And lastly ...

1. She is mad, period.

Please consult the following charts first before we continue:

Because of the disagreement by leading experts, there has been no consensus, as of yet, on what is the top reason why your girlfriend or wife is suddenly mad at you.

Therefore, you can now only guess what is the reason why she's mad.

But, please remember this golden rule, right here: If she's mad, then she's truly mad.

Please don't try to make fun of her or everything will be blown to smithereens, I guarantee you.

Why the Man of Steel is just your typical "halo-halo" sci-fi film

What is the recipe for a good sci-fi film? For starters, a must need would be a dying world. Add in a rebellion and sprinkle it with a civil war. Then, add a dramatic exit of a friendly spacecraft and to cap it off, place in Earth. Well, do not forget your love interest, your sprinkled CG battle scenes everywhere, and your intense soundtrack. Voila! You got your film - in this case Transformers, er, the Man of Steel.

Probably, you are thinking why I said that the Man of Steel was just your typical "halo-halo" film. It is a "halo-halo" film precisely because of two elements: visuals and content and similarity with other films. Because of these factors, the Man of Steel failed to stand out among other sci-fi films.

The visual effects and CG animation that was employed on the Man of Steel are actually superb and top of the line. Thanks to this, the film presented vivid and dazzling scenes of Krypton and of Earth. And under Zack Snyder's direction, the CG and animation content have breath into life what was once color drawings in a comic to a full size reality which we can see.

However, by overusing this technique, through frequent battle scenes, the story itself becomes diluted. Take for example the Transformers. Back then, the main focus of each film was to portray the battles between the Autobots and the Decepticons. The story itself was just a side dish of some sort. In return, Transformers became nothing more than robots smashing robots, albeit with the occasional interference of humans.

In the same way, the Man of Steel leans towards that kind of technique overuse; especially towards the end of the film, much of the battle scenes were turn into a montage - one battle after the another - which makes it harder for the audience to actually digest what really was happening.

I for one, experienced this. In one instance, I wasn't able to understand the transition that happened when Kal-El passed out in Zod's ship because of his inability to adapt. I wasn't able to decipher the change in the scenery. It was just later which I found out that they communicated using some sort of telepathy.

Secondly, scenes from the Man of Steel bore really uncanny similarities with other films. Scenes especially from the latter half of the film bore resemblances from Star Trek, Battle: Los Angeles, Transformers and Tron.

Perhaps I was expecting some original content from both Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder, that's why I was really surprised to see they have found inspirations from other films and incorporated it to the Man of Steel. In turn, those scenes turned out to be clichés usually employed in sci-fi movies, like massive destruction of cities and incompetent military forces.

So what was the result of these two elements? A "halo-halo" - too much content crammed into one film, topped by striking visuals and smothered with useless fight scenes.

However, what was commendable on the Man of Steel was the performances of its actors, most notably Russell Crowe. Crowe has exceptionally played Jor-El, both when he was alive and when only his consciousness remained. The way he acted highlights the role of Jor-El as a bad-ass guardian to both Kal-El and Lois Lane, especially when he was directing Lois out of Zod's ship and saying that, "This is my ship."

Amy Adams, Henry Cavill, Michael Shannon and of course, Kevin Costner can also be commended for their delivery and portrayal of their characters in the film.

So, if any of you wants to join the bandwagon in watching the latest Superman movie, please do. However, please note that disappointing scenes are bound to happen.

Millennials faces triple combo threat with their own combo breaker

The recent increase in water, tuition and power rates sent a message to the youth, and they vowed to fight it back.

Students and youths led by Kabataan Partylist gathered in Palma Hall Lobby in the University of the Philippines at noon, voiced their outrage against the "triple combo" imposed on students and millions of families.

In response, they presented their recommended "combo breaker" - putting a stop on the government's privatization schemes while denouncing the moves made by big businesses.

Protesters carrying empty water containers in Philcoa voiced this idea, believing that privatization led to the increase in utility rates.

Calling the rates increase "unjust", "highly dubious" and "ironic", Kabataan party list led youth groups to blasted big companies and businesses for their actions.

During the past few weeks, several big businesses and conglomerates announced their increase in utility fees.

Commission in Higher Education, for example, approved the tuition fees increase application of over 300 colleges and universities in the midst of students clamor against it.

While the Metro's two water distribution companies, Manila Water Co. Inc. and Maynilad Water Services Inc., applied for an increase in water fees that would translate to an additional P 234 - 342 monthly household fees.

At the same time, MERALCO announced a 22 centavo hike in generation charges after it had suffered losses because of the Luzon wide blackout last May 8.

Kabataan Partylist added that only by scraping the government's privatization scheme and reviewing how they manage the economy would be the only way to counter the triple combo threat.

Cheers to a new found friend!

Today, I found myself a new friend in my first Saturday class. Her name is Ellie and she is quite the cheerful girl!

Ellie majors in Journalism, just like myself. She is also 19 years old,  although, she is older than me by 5 months. If I would describe her, she would look like an orient beauty - think of Mulan. She also has a cheerful and light personality that can easily draw people to her. Fortunately for me, she became my partner for the first activity in class.

Through it, I found bits of interesting facts about Ellie. For one, she aspires to be an author. Ellie enjoys reading novels regularly and probably, that is the reason why she would like to be an author herself. She told me that her favorite novel changes every month and currently, she loves "The Diviners" by Libba Bray.

Interestingly, Ellie is also into tarot and palm reading. As a single child, Ellie has to find ways to satisfy her boredom. In this manner, she studied palm reading, eventually tarot reading, to satisfy and relieve herself. I was actually surprised upon hearing this, and gave Ellie quite the look. She probably read my mind and said that she knows what I am thinking because I was giving her the look. She later quipped that if her career as a journalist and an author would fail, she can set-up a stand in Quiapo to make a living out of these.

Ellie is a stay-at-home person meaning, she would prefer staying at home than going out. However if asked by friends, she would go with them.

She also likes to knit, due to the influence of the cartoon series on Disney channel, "Gravity Falls." She is currently knitting herself a sweater.

Ellie really is an interesting person. By meeting her, my horizon has expanded. I think my days in this class would be for the better.
